FRANK GERRISH

When did you start acting?

I started acting in high school in Cranston, Rhode Island and was enlisted in the school musicals because I was a singer in the school’s a’cappella choir. My first show was “THE KING AND I”.   I went on to get a bachelors from University of Rhode Island and a Masters degree in Theatre from Penn State University.  I fell in love with the stage, doing regional theater, Shakespearean festivals, and was even cast in the national tour of Les Miserables.

What has been your favorite role so far and why?

I don’t know if I have one particular  favorite, it seems I’ve been playing men in their 40s and 50s since I was 18.  I love playing characters that have a zest for life, a sensuality, and most important: a sense of humor.  I have really enjoyed playing Fausto in PIel Salvaje.  He is just such a delicious bad guy.

When did you decide to become a voiceover artist?

I’d like to think that voiceover chose me! I started doing voiceovers just after college. I found that I had a very good knack for accents and dialects and started developing a strong set of character voices.   I got hired to be the booth announcer for a TV station in Salt Lake City and did that for several years in addition to several national ad campaigns.

Any projects coming up?
I am slated to be a recurring character on NBC’s TELENOVELA (there’s some irony, right?). Also, working on a Japanese film and TV Series called ULTRAMAN.  I am in the trenches every week trying to get more Film and TV gigs.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t… I have over 110 IMDb credits, so I’m not just looking for just any job.  I would really like to be involved with projects that make a difference.

What’s the toughest role you have ever played so far?
The toughest roles I’ve had are the ones that require both physical stamina and a great emotional range.   Loved playing Chris Pine’s father in the film BLIND DATING, Tevye in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF,  and all of those wonderful Shakespearean character men.

I am grateful for the good fortune to be part of the VOXX family, and try to give my heart and soul to every recording session.   From the producers to the editors, to the engineers, to the voice actors,  VOXX is truly made up of exceptionally talented and truly nice human beings!    I love being here!
